Applying & enrollment
Who is eligible to apply to Salem Academy?
Salem Academy is open to any student entering grades six through twelve, regardless of where they live in Massachusetts, subject to available seats.
Is there an application fee?
No, applying to Salem Academy is free of charge.
Can I apply if I live outside of Salem?
Yes. As a public charter school, Salem Academy accepts applications from students across the state, though in-district residents may receive priority in the lottery.
The lottery
What happens if more students apply than there are seats?
When applications exceed available seats, students are selected through a public random lottery drawing, following state charter school regulations.
Do siblings get priority?
Yes, siblings of currently enrolled students typically receive preference in the lottery, ahead of general applicants.
What if my child isn't selected?
Students not selected are placed on a waitlist in the order drawn and may be offered a seat if one becomes available during the school year.

What extracurricular activities are available?
