Salem Academy Charter School is a college preparatory school where every student takes rigorous courses in five Academic Core subjects: English, Mathematics, History, Science, and Spanish. Our mission is to graduate informed, articulate, and proactive individuals of strong character, fully prepared for post-secondary success.

College and career readiness begins in grade 6 and continues through graduation. Our dedicated College Counseling and Post-Secondary Success Team provides individualized guidance to help every student find the right path forward, whether that's a four-year university, community college, vocational training, or entering the workforce.

Academic Rigor

Honors & Advanced Placement

Salem Academy offers a standards-based, college preparatory academic program enhanced by Honors and Advanced Placement courses in the Upper School. Students are assessed on an internal proficiency scale of 1 to 4, holding them to a high bar of academic rigor.

With a 94% AP participation rate, Salem Academy students are challenged to pursue college-level coursework across a wide range of subjects.

A Four-Year Journey

College preparation at Salem Academy is not just a senior-year activity. From the moment students enter the Upper School, they receive structured support through a highly individualized four-year process designed to help them discover their strengths, explore their interests, and build toward a bright future.

Grades 9-10

Self-Discovery & Exploration

Students are offered a holistic approach to college counseling that focuses on self-discovery, exploring interests, and beginning to define post-secondary education and career goals.

Grade 11

Focused Guidance

Students receive individualized counseling to find their best college fit, begin college applications, and work on admissions essays and recommendation letters.

Grade 12

Applications & Decisions

Seniors navigate the full admissions process: submitting applications and materials, pursuing scholarships, and working with families on the college financial planning process.

Beyond Graduation

Salem Academy stays connected with alumni, offering continued support and celebrating post-secondary success stories through the Alumni Spotlight series on Instagram.

Building the Whole Student

Salem Academy's extended day and extended year allow for a full schedule of academic classes, enrichment programs, and the school's signature Service Learning program. Students also compete in 16 sports through the Massachusetts Charter School Athletic Organization and participate in a wide variety of clubs and extracurricular activities.

These experiences help students build the leadership, collaboration, and character that colleges and employers value most.
